Description

History & Origin: Easter Cactus, traditionally associated with Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri, originates from the humid forests of southeastern Brazil. Unlike desert cacti, it naturally grows as an epiphyte among branches and adapted to filtered light and higher humidity.

Care & Maintenance Guide:

  • Sun / Lighting: Provide bright, indirect light or gentle morning sun. Protect from intense afternoon sunlight, especially behind glass.
  • Watering: Water when the upper layer of soil becomes slightly dry, keeping the mix lightly moist during active growth. Avoid prolonged saturation; shriveling or limp segments can indicate insufficient water, while soft or darkened stems may indicate over-watering.
  • Soil Type: Use a loose, fast-draining epiphytic cactus mix containing peat or coco coir, bark, and perlite. A slightly acidic to neutral pH is suitable.
  • Nutrients & Fertilization: Feed with a balanced, diluted cactus or houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding during dormancy and avoid heavy fertilization.
