History & Origin: Native to the high-altitude Andean region of South America, including Peru and Ecuador, San Pedro has been cultivated and revered in traditional shamanic practices for thousands of years as a sacred healing plant.

Care & Maintenance Guide:

  • Sun / Lighting: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Outdoors, place in a bright location with direct sunlight; indoors, position near a sunny south- or west-facing window.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry during active growth in spring and summer. Reduce significantly in winter to avoid root rot.
  • Soil Type: Requires a well-draining mineral cactus mix with perlite or pumice to ensure proper aeration and drainage. Optimal pH is slightly acidic to neutral (6.0–7.0).
  • Nutrients & Fertilization: Feed with a balanced, low-nitrogen cactus fertilizer once a month during spring and summer; refrain from fertilizing during dormancy.
